Blueberry Side Snap Simplex All-in-One Cloth Diaper Review

Although I almost exclusively used covers and all-in-two cloth diapers on my daughter, I quickly found that I preferred all-in-ones with my son. I had previously tried the Blueberry Coverall on my daughter and the Capri newborn diaper cover and the Blueberry Mini Coverall newborn diaper cover on my son. However, I had yet to try any all-in-ones from Blueberry. When the brand came out with some Nicki’s Diapers Exclusive prints including Farmers’ Market, I finally knew that I had to try a Blueberry all-in-one. I chose the Side Snap Simplex in large.

Price

The Blueberry side snap Simplex all-in-one currently retails for $22.95. The diaper is quite a bit more expensive than many of the other all-in-ones in my stash. Additionally, the diaper is sized rather than a one-size. Overall, I consider the current price of the Blueberry side snap Simplex all-in-one a bit steep. Had I not wanted to review the diaper, I probably would not have spent so much on a single sized diaper.

Prints

I purchased a Blueberry side snap Simplex all-in-one in the Farmers’ Market print, which was a Nicki’s Diapers Exclusive. The diaper is white with colorful farm and garden images such as tractors, fences, tools, grains, fruits, and vegetables. The interior is white. The side snaps are white and the front snaps are green. In addition to the exclusive Farmers’ Market print, Blueberry also offers over two dozen solid colors and prints. In terms of variety of style, I rate the Blueberry side snap Simplex all-in-one very highly. I love my exclusive Farmers’ Market print, which is the reason that I decided to try the diaper, and you are sure to find a color or print from Blueberry to fit any taste.

Sizing

I generally am not a fan of sized diapers because I prefer the longevity of the one-size. I purchased the Blueberry side snap Simplex all-in-one in large, which the brand recommends for babies between 22 and 35 pounds. The medium fits babies between 12 and 25 pounds. (Blueberry also offers a newborn version of the sized Simplex, which fits between 6 and 16 pounds.) I purchased the large because I wanted a sized diaper that would last my kids through potty training. The large fit my son starting at around eight months even though he was less than 22 pounds. The diaper also fit my daughter at 31 pounds. If you are a fan of sized diapers, then the Blueberry side snap Simplex all-in-one may work great for you. Because I prefer one-size diapers, I would buy the one-size version of the Simplex in the future. However, the sized versus one-size difference is truly a matter of personal preference.

Design

The Blueberry side snap Simplex all-in-one offers a unique all-in-one diaper design that combines the convenience of an all-in-one diaper while providing the absorbency adjustability of a pocket diaper. The all-in-one consists of a waterproof outer layer and eleven layers of 100% cotton birdseye fabric in the wet zone. The diaper has pocket openings on both ends that allows for customization of the absorbency by adding extra inserts. The dual pocket openings also enables any extra inserts to agitate out in the wash. Half of the soaker pad is attached to the front of the diaper in a tongue-style design while the other half also comes out through the pocket openings during the wash cycle. The design means that the diaper is thoroughly cleaned inside out and dries fast in the dryer or on a drying rack.

As a sized diaper, the Blueberry side snap Simplex all-in-one lacks torso snaps. As a side snap diaper, the waist features two rows of four snaps on each waist tab on the back of the diaper and a single row of two snaps on the front of the diaper. The number of waist snaps allowed me to get a snug fit on both my infant son and my preschooler daughter. The diaper does feature non-encased leg elastic, but so do a number of my other all-in-ones. If you are used to encased elastic, you will need to get used to rolling the leg elastic under to prevent leaks. However, rolling the elastic under is simple.

Laundering

Because I am lazy in the laundry room, any new diaper that I add to my stash must fit into my current wash routine. I currently wash my diaper laundry on hot (water heat set to non-scald temperatures) with detergent (and sometimes OxiClean) followed by a cold rinse. I sometimes do a pre-wash with cold first for poopy diapers, and I often also do a second cold rinse after the wash and rinse cycle. I then allow the Blueberry side snap Simplex all-in-one to air dry on a drying rack, usually in front of a fan, or toss the diaper in my dryer on delicate (low heat) for 90 minutes. Between washes, I store my dirty diapers in a pail liner in my diaper pail. The only negative that I can mention about washing the Blueberry side snap Simplex all-in-one is the dry time. The natural cotton fabric takes considerably longer to dry than my synthetic fiber diapers. Overall, however, the Blueberry side snap Simplex all-in-one fits easily into my cloth diaper laundry routine, so I rate the diaper favorably in terms of laundering.

Performance

I first put my son in the large Blueberry side snap Simplex all-in-one at eight months and 17 pounds. The brand recommends a minimum weight of 22 pounds, so the diaper was slightly big on him at the time even on the smallest waist setting. However, he had only started rolling at seven months and did not start crawling until a few months later, so the slightly large diaper worked fine on him. I also loved that I could stuff two extra inserts into the pocket opening to use the all-in-one on him overnight. Although she had been potty trained for a few months, my preschooler daughter could also wear the large diaper at three years old and 30 pounds. She also had plenty of room to grow had she needed diapers for longer.

As my son grew, the large Blueberry side snap Simplex all-in-one continued to fit him well. Now at almost eighteen months and about 20 pounds, he has almost reached the minimum recommend weight for the sized diaper. He wears the diaper on the smallest waist settings.

Although my stash consists of a mixture of natural and synthetic fibers, I tend to prefer synthetic diapers. One of my favorite all-in-ones, Smart Bottoms, however, features 100% organic cotton inside for a trimmer, more absorbent diaper. I had hoped that the Blueberry side snap Simplex all-in-one would perform similarly to my beloved Smart Bottoms. Although the 100% cotton birdseye fabric in the Blueberry Simplex lasts for a two to four hours just like my Smart Bottoms, I have found that the cotton in the Blueberry diaper is not as absorbent as the cotton in my Smart Bottoms. Whereas I can use a Smart Bottoms with one additional insert overnight, I have to use two to make the Simplex last more than four hours. Although an okay diaper overall, the large Blueberry side snap Simplex all-in-one is less absorbent than many of the other all-in-ones in my stash.

My son did not start eating solid foods consistently until after he turned one. I have thus been able to use the Blueberry side snap Simplex all-in-one with breastmilk poop, in-between poop, and solid poop. With all four consistencies of solid waste, the Simplex has performed exceptionally. Even with super wet poop, the all-in-one has contained all manner of nastiness. I thus rate the Simplex highly in terms of containing solid waste.

Final Verdict

At $22.95 per diaper, I consider the Blueberry side snap Simplex all-in-one priced more expensively than other comparable all-in-ones. If I were to buy a Simplex in the future, I would opt for the one-size rather than the sized. I love the Farmers’ Market print, which is a Nicki’s Diapers Exclusive. The brand also offers around two dozen other gorgeous colors and prints to fit any taste. Washing the eleven layers of 100% cotton birdseye fabric is easy, so the diaper fits seamlessly into my laundering routine. Unfortunately, the large Simplex is less absorbent than many of the other all-in-ones in my stash. However, the diaper does perform exceptionally in terms of containing solid waste. Overall, I consider the Blueberry side snap Simplex all-in-one an okay diaper but nothing super special.

You can purchase the Blueberry side snap Simplex all-in-one and other Blueberry products at Nicki’s Diapers, Amazon, Diaper Junction, Kelly’s Closet, and Diaper Safari via my affiliate links.

Funky Fluff LUX Cloth Diaper Review

Are your cloth diapers FUNK-tional? Funky Fluff is the only cloth diaper on the market designed as an all-in-one, all-in-two, and pocket diaper all in one convenient diaper. I previously reviewed the Funky Fluff Stay Dry 2.0 cloth diaper, and I purchased the adorable Funk-eh Forest print for my little guy last fall. Thus, when recently offered the chance to review a new product from Funky Fluff, I eagerly accepted the opportunity.

Funky Fluff LUX

Funky Fluff made some major changes to the overall Funky Fluff line in August. A new line called Funky Fluff LUX will replace the current 2.0 line. Funky Fluff LUX is the next generation of Funky Fluff (or 3.0 version). I received a gorgeous blue sea print one-size bamboo cloth diaper shell along with two new LUX bamboo terry soakers. In addition to the new LUX line, Funky Fluff will also introduce two new exclusive prints whose names will be chosen by Funky Fluff fans.

The Funky Fluff LUX shell is similar to the 2.0 version with a few small changes. The middle of the diaper (crotch area) is now one centimeter wider to accommodate the new line of inserts and to make stuffing the shell easier. The back of the snaps are lined with PUL for extra protection. (The 2.0 diapers were lined with suedecloth.) The LUX shell also features upgraded soft elastics for additional durability.

The biggest change in the Funky Fluff LUX line is the diaper soaker offerings. Funky Fluff is completely retiring microfiber, which was available with the Stay Dry system of the 2.0 version. Both Stay Dry and bamboo diaper systems will come with new redesigned LUX bamboo terry inserts. Both the small and the larger soakers feature a contoured shape for increased absorbency area. (Previous soakers were rectangular in shape.) The soakers additionally snap together and onto the diaper shell. (Previous soakers did not snap together.) The small soaker consists of five layers of bamboo terry and measures 30 centimeters in length. The larger soaker consists of six layers and measures 36 centimeters. LUX bamboo soakers come as a set of one small and one large and are available for purchase separately from the diaper shell. (Previous soakers were sold as two-packs of small or large.)

Funky Fluff LUX and Funky Fluff 2.0

Price

The new Funky Fluff LUX shell and set of small and large LUX bamboo soakers currently retails for $24.45. I consider the Funky Fluff brand priced similarly to other premium all-in-ones on the market. The Funky Fluff three-in-one additionally offers all-in-two and pocket diaper configurations within the same diaper, meaning the brand offers more bang for the buck. I thus rate the price of the new Funky Fluff LUX highly among comparable premium brands.

Prints

I received the new Funky Fluff LUX in a blue sea print with matching blue snaps. In addition to the two new exclusive prints for the LUX line, Funky Fluff also offers a myriad of fun color combinations and prints. I personally love all the solid colors that the brand offers. And I am absolutely in love with my new blue sea print, which matches so many outfits that my son wears regularly. You are sure to find a diaper that fits your style from Funky Fluff.

Design

Recommended for babies between 7 and 35 pounds, the Funky Fluff LUX three-in-one cloth diaper consists of a waterproof PUL outer lined with bamboo terry. The front of the shell features a waterproof strip to prevent leaks. Pocket openings at the front and back of the diaper allow for easier stuffing and removal of inserts. As a three-in-one, the Funky Fluff LUX functions as a pocket diaper, all-in-one, or two-in-one depending on the configuration of the inserts. The inserts snap into the front and/or back of the shell. I typically use the diaper as an all-in-one, snapping the small and large inserts together and then snapping the large insert onto the back of the diaper with the inserts stuffed in the pocket. I also sometimes use the diaper as an all-in-two with the inserts laid inside the shell.

As a one-size diaper, the torso of the Funky Fluff LUX features four rows of two snaps that allow the diaper to adjust between small, medium, large, and extra-large rise settings. The waist features two rows of ten angled snaps. The wings feature one row of two snaps and one hip snap to prevent wing droop. One wing additionally includes one row of two crossover snaps that ensure the perfect fit on the smallest newborns.

Laundering

Funky Fluff recommends washing the LUX diaper and inserts a minimum of five times before first use and washing light and dark colors separately for the first few times. The washing instructions on the packaging recommend a prewash with a small amount of detergent followed by a long wash with detergent and then tumble drying on low or air drying. Funky Fluff specifically states to avoid using dryer sheets, softeners, and rash creams. I personally used my new LUX diaper and inserts after only one initial wash, but I have found that the absorbency increased considerably after each subsequent washing.

Because I am lazy in the laundry room, any new diaper that I add to my stash must fit into my current wash routine. I currently wash my diaper laundry on hot (water heat set to non-scald temperatures) with detergent and OxiClean followed by a cold rinse. I sometimes do a pre-wash with cold first for poopy diapers, and I often also do a second cold rinse. I then allow the bamboo Funky Fluff LUX shell to air dry on a drying rack, usually in front of a fan, which typically takes between 12 and 24 hours depending on the humidity. I usually machine dry the inserts. When I am in more of a hurry, I toss the clean, damp diaper in my dryer for 60 to 90 minutes on low with the soakers. Between washes, I store my dirty diapers in a pail liner in my diaper pail. The only negative that I can mention about the Funky Fluff LUX is the dry time. The natural bamboo fibers do take considerably longer to dry than my synthetic fiber diapers. Overall, Funky Fluff LUX fits easily into my cloth diaper laundry routine, so I rate the diaper favorably in terms of laundering.

Performance

At 18 pounds and nine months old, my infant son currently wears the Funky Fluff LUX on the large rise setting and on the smallest waist setting without the crossover snaps. My slender preschooler daughter, who currently weighs 30 pounds, wears the diaper on the extra-large rise setting with two sets of waist snaps exposed. Because of the crossover snaps on the hip tabs and the additional small and medium rise snaps, I agree that much smaller babies will fit into this three-in-one. The Funky Fluff LUX will also definitely fit older kids up to 35 or more. I thus rate Funky Fluff extremely highly for size range.

In terms of absorbency, the new Funky Fluff LUX is now one of my favorite diapers for extended use on my son. As an infant, my son was a heavy wetter who needed changed every two to four hours during the day. Now that he is a little older and a bit bigger, I consider him a moderate wetter. He now typically goes four hours or a little more between daytime diaper changes when wearing a high quality diaper with plenty of absorbency. Because of all the super absorbent bamboo in the bamboo in the diaper, my son more often than not wears his Funky Fluff LUX for a full four hours. I can also use the diaper on him at night for up to ten hours by adding a third insert into the pocket. My preschooler daughter also wore the diaper overnight with the two bamboo terry inserts without any leaks. I thus rate the Funky Fluff LUX extremely highly in terms of absorbing moisture.

As for containing solid messes, the Funky Fluff LUX performs equally well. My son still primarily nurses but has started eating more solid food each day. He is thus still at the messy point between liquid EBF and solid food poop, with the consistency unpredictable. This bamboo all-in-one did a great job containing all consistencies of poop, from more liquid to more solid. The leg elastic is snug (but not overly tight), ensuring that all manner of poop remains firmly inside the diaper. I therefore also rate the Funky Fluff LUX extremely highly in terms of containing solid messes.

Final Verdict

If you are already a Funky Fluff fan, you will love the updated features including the super absorbent bamboo of the brand new Funky Fluff LUX. Fans of all-in-ones, all-in-twos, and pockets will also love the new design. Recommended for babies between 7 and 35 pounds, both my 18 pound infant and 30 pound preschooler with plenty of room to grow on both. Both kiddos can also wear the diaper overnight without any leaks. The Funky Fluff LUX is both easy-to-use and versatile, converting from newborn to large sizes and between pocket, all-in-two, and all-in-one settings. At $24.45 for the shell and set of small and large LUX bamboo soakers, the diaper is priced comparatively to other premium cloth diapers. The only negative that I can find with this diaper is the slightly longer dry time compared to microfiber because of the bamboo material, which consequently provides the superior absorbency. Overall, I rate the Funky Fluff LUX extremely highly and highly recommend this diaper.

Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One Snap Cloth Diaper Review

Nicki's Diapers Ultimate All-in-One Snap Cloth Diaper Review

When I first switched to cloth diapers five and a half years ago, I discovered an online cloth diaper store called Nicki’s Diapers. Although I have shopped at other stores, I have made most of my cloth diapers at Nicki’s Diapers. I am also a fan of the Nicki’s Diapers brand, which is considerably less expensive than many other brands. I have previously reviewed the diaper cover, pull-on diaper cover, newborn bamboo all-in-one, and one-size bamboo all-in-one. I therefore had to purchase a Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One to try on my babies.

Price

Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One is affordably priced compared to many other brands of all-in-ones. The diaper currently retails for $12.95 for solid colors and $13.95 for prints at Nicki’s Diapers. Nicki’s Diapers often runs sales on the Nicki’s Diapers Exclusives line of cloth diapers, so you rarely need to pay full price for the Ultimate All-in-One. Also try coupon code FIVE to save 5% off most purchases at the online cloth diaper store.

Colors/Prints

I purchased a Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One in Caramel Apple (green exterior with green snaps and brown interior). Nicki’s Diapers currently offers a rainbow of solid colors and prints, some limited edition. Additionally, the insides of many of the diapers coordinate with the outside. Nicki’s Diapers offers enough colors and prints to suit any taste. I rate the Ultimate All-in-One cloth diaper extremely highly in terms of variety.

Closures

Because I prefer snaps, I purchased the Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One with snap closures. However, a hook and look closure is also available on all colors and prints. For both closure types, the torso features three rows of three rise snaps that adjust the diaper to small, medium, and large rise settings. For the snap version, the all-in-one features two rows of ten waist snaps plus one row of cross-over snaps for the smallest possible waist fit.

Design

The Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-one features a snap-in soaker pad consisting of fleece-topped microfiber that quickly pulls wetness away for ultimate absorption and stay-dry feel. The ultimate snap-in insert also includes a foldable panel in the front for extra absorbency. The exterior of the diaper consists of waterproof PUL with PUL guards on the front and back interior to prevent wicking. The interior of the diaper consists of super soft fleece. Gentle leg elastics work to keep messes contained with a snug but not overly tight fit. The all-in-one fits babies between 8 and 35+ pounds.

Laundering

As I have previously stated in my past cloth diaper reviews, I am lazy in the laundry room, so any new diaper that I add to my stash must fit into my current laundry routine. Between wash days, I keep my dirty Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One in a pail liner in my diaper pail. I leave the insert snapped in the shell. On laundry day, I wash the diaper on warm with powdered detergent followed by two cold rinses. I then toss all my clean diaper laundry in my dryer on delicate (low heat) for 80 to 90 minutes, although sometimes I air dry all-in-ones on a drying rack when the atmosphere in my basement is not too humid. The synthetic fabrics dry quickly. My only complaint is that the snap-in insert sometimes comes undone in the wash. However, the Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One fits into my cloth diaper laundry routine overall, so I rate the diaper favorably in terms of laundering.

Evaluation

When I first purchased my Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One over a year ago, my toddler son weighed around 22 pounds. He wore the diaper on the medium rise setting with four waist snaps exposed. My tiny little peanut now weighs around 26 pounds at a few months shy of 3 years old. He now wears the diaper on the medium rise setting with five waist snaps exposed. He has plenty of room to grow in the diaper up to 35 pounds or more as recommended.

Although I typically prefer double leg gussets, the gentle leg elastics on the Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One prevent leaks while keeping a diapered baby comfortable. I personally like that I can put the diaper on my son quickly without messing with unencased leg elastics. Diaper changes go extremely quickly when I am using the Ultimate All-in-One. The absorbent microfiber material means the diaper lasts a few hours on my son during the way, which is typical of his diaper use. The fleece lining keeps his skin feeling dryer for longer. The diaper also effectively contains solid wastes, and I have not had any major problems with leaks. Overall, I rate the performance of the Ultimate All-in-One very highly.

Final Verdict

If you are shopping for an affordable all-in-one cloth diaper with synthetic fabrics, I highly recommend the Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One. At $12.95 for solid colors and $13.95 for prints, the retail price is more affordable than many other brands of all-in-ones. Other positives of the Nicki’s Diapers line include the rainbow of colors available, the availability of both snap and hook and loop closures, the stay-dry fleece, and the extended fit for older toddlers. I therefore highly recommend the Nicki’s Diapers Ultimate All-in-One!

Using Smart Bottoms Cloth Diapers Overnight

0

As my readers know, I am a huge fan of the Smart Bottoms all-in-one cloth diaper. Unlike with my daughter, who primarily wore all-in-twos and covers with various inserts, I prefer all-in-ones on my son. Immediately after birth, I put him in an Emerson Smart Bottoms Born Smart Newborn diaper. Once he grew big enough after a few weeks, I started putting him in my one-size Smart Bottoms.

Nighttime has been the greatest cloth diapering challenge with my son. When I first switched to cloth with my daughter, I quickly found a number of overnight cloth diapering solutions that worked. My son, however, is a fairly heavy wetter. My go-to microfiber insert and overnight doubler from Best Bottom Diapers — my current favorite overnight insert combination for my daughter — failed me and my bedding with my son. I thus found myself heading back to the nighttime drawing board when my son was only a few weeks old.

As a Smart Bottoms Diaper Ambassador, I received an organic cotton insert and a four-layer organic cotton and hemp insert to try. Both are available in large and small sizes, although I chose the large size. (When my son wore the Smart One all-in-one on the smallest rise setting, I simply folded one side under to make the large insert fit inside the diaper.) The hourglass shape of the natural fiber inserts provides full coverage and added absorbency  without excess bulkiness. The inserts can be used with any diapering system, but I exclusively use mine in my ever-growing stash of one-size Smart Bottoms.

I prefer synthetic fibers on both my children for a number of reasons. First, microfiber absorbs quickly and dries quickly. Unlike my natural fibered diapers, my microfiber air dries on a drying rack in front of a fan in only a few hours. Microfiber is also less expensive than cotton and hemp. My son, in particular, dislikes the feeling of a wet diaper, so Stay Dry material helps keep him comfortable for longer.

At first I was skeptical about using either the organic cotton insert or the four-layer organic cotton and hemp insert inside my Smart Bottoms all-in-ones overnight. If ten layers of microfiber could not contain the overnight wetness from my son, then surely four layers of natural fibers on top of the ten layers of cotton in the Smart Bottoms diaper would fail too. Plus, I was sure that my son would wake up fussy from feeling wetness against his skin.

I am pleased to admit that my disbelief in the organic cotton insert and the four-layer organic cotton and hemp insert from Smart Bottoms was wrong. Of my numerous overnight cloth diapering experiments, my Smart Bottoms combinations consistently leak the least. My son typically goes nine hours overnight without a diaper change. (Let sleeping babies lie, right?) When I put him in a Smart Bottoms one-size all-in-one with either the organic cotton insert or the four-layer organic cotton and hemp insert, I feel confident that he and I will both wake up dry. On the rare occasion that his overnight diaper does leak, I usually find only a small amount of moisture around the legs in the front of the diaper, and any leaking usually happens on days when he sleeps in past his usual nine hours.

Wet Smart Bottoms Insert in Smart Bottoms Smart One All-in-One Cloth Diaper

At the moment, I own only two additional inserts from Smart Bottoms. Thus, on the weekends, I end up putting a small Stay Dry Buttons Diapers insert inside my Smart Bottoms all-in-one overnight. (I wash diaper laundry on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.) While the four layers of microfiber functions as a fairly effective nighttime cloth diaper, I have noticed that my son leaks a bit more and more frequently with the synthetic-natural combination than with only the natural fibers. In a pinch, however, the microfiber and Stay Dry inserts works pretty well overnight so long as I change my son early enough in the morning.

Small Buttons Diapers Insert in Smart Bottoms Smart One All-in-One Cloth Diaper

Despite my initial love of microfiber with my daughter, I have grown to love the natural material of the Smart Bottoms Smart One all-in-one with my son. I frequently put my son in one of my many Smart Ones during the day. I also prefer to put him in a Smart Bottoms with an additional organic cotton insert or four-layer organic cotton and hemp insert overnight. Both my son — and my sheets — wake up dryer in the morning with Smart Bottoms.

Have you tried Smart Bottoms overnight?

Thirsties One-Size All-in-One Cloth Diaper Review

After falling in love with the world of the all-in-one cloth diaper last summer, I purchased the limited edition Black Friday Thristies one-size all-in-one for my newborn son last November. I had previously tried the Thirsties diaper cover, so, when I saw the gorgeous black diaper with white snaps, I decided to give the all-in-one from the brand a try on my infant son and preschooler daughter.

Price

The Thristies one-size all-in-one currently retails for $18.95, which I consider priced on the upper end of moderately priced diapers. The diaper fits most babies between 8 and 40 pounds, and the price reflects the wide weight range.

Prints

I purchased my Thristies one-size all-in-one in the limited edition Black Friday version, which is black with white snaps. The all-in-one also comes in almost two dozen solids and prints, so you are sure to find a diaper that fits your style and preferences. Thirsties currently offers only white snaps on all diapers.

Closures

Because I prefer snaps, I purchased the Thristies one-size all-in-one with snap closures. The diaper also comes in hook and loop closures. For both versions, the torso features three rows of three rise snaps that adjust the diaper to small, medium, and large rise settings. For the snap version, the diaper features two rows of ten waist snaps. My 11-pound infant wore the diaper with one set of waist snaps exposed, and my 28-pound preschooler wore the diaper with four sets of waist snaps exposed. I agree that the diaper should fit most babies between 8 and 40 pounds, if not both smaller and bigger.

Inserts

The Thristies one-size all-in-one consists of a waterproof PUL exterior and a polyester microfleece interior for a stay-dry feeling. The interior of the diaper offers one-layer of absorbent microfiber terry while the sewn-in soaker consists of three layers of microfiber terry topped with a layer of microfleece. I personally love the synthetic material of the all-in-one because of the absorbency combined with a fast drying time. My son, who especially hates feeling wetness in his diaper, also seems to appreciate the microfleece.

Laundering

I am incredibly lazy in the laundry room, so any new diaper that I add to my stash must integrate into my current wash routine. Between washes, I store my dirty diapers including my Thristies one-size all-in-one in a pail liner in my diaper pail. On laundry day, I wash my diapers on warm with detergent and OxiClean followed by two cold rinses. I then allow the Thristies one-size all-in-one cloth diaper to air dry on a drying rack, usually in front of a fan. If I am in a hurry, I occasionally toss the all-in-one in the dryer for about 30 minutes. I also sometimes toss the almost dry diaper in the dryer for 10 minutes to zap any remaining moisture. In any case, the Thristies one-size all-in-one is extremely easy to wash and dry because of the synthetic material.

Performance

Thirsties recommends the Thristies one-size all-in-one cloth diaper for babies between 8 and 40 pounds. Both my son and my daughter wear mine, although I usually use the diapers on my son. I first started using the diaper on my son when he was around seven weeks old and 11 pounds. He wore the all-in-one on the smallest rise setting with one set of waist snaps exposed. I am confident that he could also have worn the diaper earlier. By three months and 14 pounds, he still wore the diaper on the small rise setting but with two sets of waist snaps exposed. My 28-pound preschooler wore the diaper on the large rise setting with four waist snaps exposed.

Although recommended for kids up to 40 pounds, the Thristies one-size all-in-one cloth diaper may fit even larger kids as well. I do find the rise a bit low, but my 28-pound preschooler still has plenty of room to grow around the waist in the diaper. I therefore especially recommend the Thristies one-size all-in-one for children who wear diapers with lower rises.

I consider my son is a fairly heavy wetter who hates feeling wet. The microfleece in the Thirsties one-size all-in-one cloth diaper combined with the microfiber quickly soaks up moisture while providing a stay-dry feeling. Compared to his reaction while wearing diapers made with natural fibers, my son fusses less in his wet Diaper Junction all-in-one because of the stay-dry material. My daughter, too, enjoys the stay-dry feeling provided by the diaper (although she is much less picky about wearing a wet diaper for an extended period of time).

With a high quality diaper, I have to change my son every two to four hours and my daughter every four. Both my kids can go up to four hours in the Thirsties one-size all-in-one. The insert provides plenty of absorbency, and the diaper leaks only when I wait beyond four hours to change my kiddos. I primarily use the diaper on my son during the day. However, I can also use the all-in-one on my son overnight with an added insert because he goes between 8 and 10 hours without a diaper change at night. I like to use a natural fiber booster under the sewn-in microfiber soaker to provide overnight absorbency.

In addition to providing protection against leaks, the Thirsties one-size all-in-one cloth diaper also effectively contains liquid and solid poop. The diaper does an especially good job with messy exclusively-breastfed poop. I have yet to have a poop explosion with the diaper, despite the messes that my son has provided, so I rate the performance of the Thirsties one-size all-in-one extremely highly.

Final Verdict

The Thirsties one-size all-in-one cloth diaper is one of my favorite all-in-ones in my stash. At $18.95 each, I consider the diaper priced in the upper end of moderately priced all-in-ones. . Available in a variety of colors and prints and both snap and hook and loop closures, the diaper features high-quality rise snaps that allow for babies from infants to preschoolers to find a perfect fit. The diaper also performs extremely well, containing both moisture and solid messes. My only concern is the lower rise, but then I simply recommend the Thirsties one-size all-in-one cloth diaper for children from newborns through preschoolers who can wear diapers with lower rises. Overall, I very highly recommend the Thirsties one-size all-in-one cloth diaper.

Lalabye Baby One-Size Cloth Diaper Review

Although I originally loved all-in-two diapers on my daughter, I know find that I prefer all-in-one diapers on my son. While doing some Black Friday shopping last year, I saw the gorgeous limited edition Happy Laladays diaper from Lalabye Baby. Having never tried the brand, I purchased one to test and review on my daughter and son. I immediately grew to like the all-in-one/all-in-two/pocket diaper.

Front of Happy Laladays Lalabye Baby One-Size Cloth Diaper Back of Happy Laladays Lalabye Baby One-Size Cloth Diaper

Price

Lalabye Baby one-size cloth diapers currently retail for $19.95 or $20.50 depending on the snaps. Colors with matching snaps cost $19.95, and colors with different colored contrasting snaps cost $20.50. Each diaper comes with two bamboo inserts, one small and one large. Extra insert sets retail for $8.50. For an all-in-one or all-in-two with inserts, I consider the Lalabye Baby one-size cloth diaper reasonably priced.

Colors

Lalabye Baby offers dozens of gorgeous colors of prints. I purchased a Lalabye Baby one-size cloth diaper in the limited edition Happy Laladays, which is green with red and rainbow snaps. Unlike many other brands of cloth diapers, Lalabye Baby frequently changes the colors offered and frequently releases limited edition colors and prints. If you want to collect every diaper from the brand, then Lalabye Baby is probably not the cloth diaper for you. However, if you simple want a great diaper available in a wide variety of color options, then you are sure to find a Lalabye Baby to fit your taste and style.

Design

Recommended for babies between 8 and 35+ pounds, Lalabye Baby one-size cloth diapers are made of stretchy TPU that is waterproof and provides a trim, snug fit. The interior of the diaper features micro-suede, which is a stay-dry fabric that protects delicate skin from wetness. A waterproof belly band/insert stopper prevents leaks at the tummy, making the diaper perfect for tummy sleepers. Wide slot openings on both ends of the diaper make stuffing in inserts easier and allows the inserts to agitate out in the wash.

Closures

I almost exclusively use snap closures within my cloth diaper stash. Perfect for me, Lalabye Baby one-size cloth diapers comes only in snaps. The torso features four rows of two snaps that allow the diaper to adjust between small, medium, large, and extra large rise settings. The waist features two rows of ten snaps with two snaps on the top of the hip flap and one snap on the bottom. One side of the hip flap also includes one row of two cross-over snaps for an even snugger small fit. Rainbow color waist snaps on many of the diapers facilitate quick and easy diaper changes every time, making Lalabye Baby perfect for caretakers and grandparents.

Snaps of Happy Laladays Lalabye Baby One-Size Cloth Diaper

Inserts

Lalabye Baby one-size cloth diapers come bundled with two snap-in style inserts: a small insert for newborns and a one-size insert for older babies. Combined with the one-size insert, the newborn insert works as an overnight booster or as extra absorbency for heavy wetters. I personally use both together for extra protection and absorbency. The inserts snap into the front or back of the diaper as well as two each other, allowing for an impressive range of customization. Snap the inserts in at both ends to create an all-in-two, or snap the inserts together at one end to create an all-in-one. Use the diaper with the inserts stuffed in the pocket or laid on top of the micro-suede interior. Lalabye Baby offers a diapers that meets so many different preferences and needs!

Lalabye Baby inserts consists of four layers of rayon from bamboo. Bamboo is very absorbent without extra bulkiness. Lalabye Baby bamboo is made without fertilizers or pesticides and is naturally antibacterial, eliminating most ammonia smells. Bamboo is also anti-allergic, very soft to the touch, and breathable — perfect for sensitive skin! Because of the high absorbency of the bamboo inserts, I am able to use my Lalabye Baby one-size cloth diaper on my son overnight for up to nine hours.

Laundering

I am generally not a fan of pocket diapers because of the need to stuff and unstuff inserts. Most of the remaining pocket diapers in my stash function as covers with an insert laid on top. However, the versatility of the Lalabye Baby one-size cloth diaper fits my laundering preferences. First, I can use the diaper with the inserts laid on top of the micro-suede interior, meaning that I do not have to stuff any pockets. Second, when I do chose to stuff the inserts into the pocket, the inserts agitate out in the wash — even when snapped onto the diaper! I personally appreciate that the inserts generally remained snapped to the cover, making putting away the clean diaper even easier.

Because I am lazy in the laundry room, any new diapers that I purchase for my stash must fit into my current wash routine. Lalabye Baby one-size cloth diapers fit right in! Between washes, I store the dirty diaper in a pail liner with the rest of my dirty fluff. I do not unstuff the inserts. On wash day, I wash all my diapers in warm water with detergent and OxiClean followed by two cold rinses. I then allow the diaper cover to air dry on a drying rack in front of a fan and toss the inserts in the dryer. The bamboo does take a little longer to dry compared with microfiber, but 12 hours on my drying rack or about an hour in the dryer generally suffices. I thus rate Lalabye Baby extremely highly in terms of laundering a pocket diaper.

Inside Pocket of Happy Laladays Lalabye Baby One-Size Cloth Diaper 2

Performance

My Lalabye Baby one-size cloth diaper works on both my infant son and my preschooler daughter. I first used the diaper on my son at nine weeks old and approximately 11 pounds. He wore the diaper on the small rise setting and the smallest waist setting without the use of the cross-over snaps. Because of the cross-over snaps, he could have worn the diaper at an even smaller weight. By four months and 15 pounds, my son wore the diaper on the medium rise setting and still the smallest waist setting. My 28-pound preschooler wears the diaper on the large rise setting with two sets of waist snaps exposed. I therefore agree with the 8 to 35+ pound recommended weight range.

Because of the bamboo inserts, I am able to use my Lalabye Baby one-size cloth diaper on my son overnight for up to nine hours. I generally stuff the inserts inside the pocket so that the micro-suede interior rests against my son, which helps prevent rashes by wicking moisture away from him skin. I can also use the diaper on my daughter up to 12 hours overnight by adding an extra insert in the pocket.

During the day, both my children can wear the Lalabye Baby one-size cloth diaper for approximately four hours. My daughter generally goes a little longer between diaper changes because she has no problems with moisture against her skin. My son generally needs changed a little soon because he dislikes a wet diaper. However, that I can use the diaper on both my infant and my preschooler attests to the versatility of Lalabye Baby.

Final Verdict

If you are shopping for a versatile cloth diaper that converts between pocket, all-in-one, and all-in-two, I recommend the Lalabye Baby one-size cloth diaper. Recommended for babies between 8 and 35+ pounds, the diaper fits both my infant and my preschooler with plenty of room left to grow. The snap-in bamboo inserts are extremely absorbent and customizable, allowing for the perfect fit for any baby. Laundering the diaper is a breeze because the inserts agitate out of the pocket in the washer — even when left snapped to the cover. I rate the Lalabye Baby one-size cloth diaper very highly.

Diaper Rite One-Size All-in-One Cloth Diaper Review

Diaper Rite One-Size All-in-One Cloth Diaper Review

Last November during the Black Friday sales, I purchased some Diaper Junction one-size all-in-one cloth diapers to test and review on my infant and preschooler. I immediately fell in love with the frugal but high quality diaper. When Diaper Junction recently stocked the similar Diaper Rite one-size all-in-one, I again purchased some to review on my two kiddos. As with the Diaper Junction version, I was immediately impressed with the Diaper Rite all-in-one.

Diaper Rite One-Size All-in-One Cloth Diapers

Price

At $10.95 each at Diaper Junction, the Diaper Rite one-size all-in-one cloth diaper is an incredibly frugal option and one of the least expensive all-in-ones currently available on the market. The economical price allowed me to purchase a small stash of five diapers to try as opposed to just one. For families on a tighter budget who prefer all-in-ones, I overwhelmingly recommend the Diaper Rite brand.

Prints

I purchased the Diaper Rite one-size all-in-one cloth diaper in five solid colors: Electric Lime (lime green), Timberwolf (gray), Cobalt (dark blue), Electric Carrot (orange), and Turtle (green). Diaper Rite currently offers the inexpensive all-in-one in fifteen solids and ten prints. I rate the economical diaper extremely highly in terms of variety.

Closures

I almost exclusively use snap closures on my diapers, so I appreciate that the Diaper Rite one-size all-in-one cloth diaper comes only in snaps. The torso features three rows of three snaps that allow the diaper to adjust between small, medium, and large rise settings. The waist features two rows of ten slanted snaps. The wings feature double snaps to ensure the perfect fit on infants through preschoolers.

Inserts

The Diaper Rite one-size all-in-one cloth diaper consists of a TPU exterior and a microfleece interior for a stay-dry feeling. The built-in insert consists of two layers of microfiber topped with a layer of microfleece. A PUL strip on the front interior of the diaper keeps moisture from wicking at the waist. I personally love the synthetic material of the all-in-one because of the absorbency combined with a fast drying time. I have a number of natural fibered all-in-ones in my stash, but I do love my microfiber because of the ease of laundering.

Laundering

As I repeatedly mention, I am lazy in the laundry room, so any new diaper that I add to my stash must fit in with my current wash routine. Between washes, I store my dirty diapers in a pail liner in my diaper pail. On laundry day, I wash my dirty diapers including my Diaper Rite one-size all-in-one on warm with detergent and OxiClean followed by two cold rinses. I then allow the Diaper Rite all-in-one to air dry on a drying rack, usually in front of a fan. If I am in a hurry, I occasionally toss the all-in-one in the dryer for about 30 minutes. I also sometimes toss the almost dry diaper in the dryer for 10 minutes to zap any remaining moisture. In any case, the Diaper Rite one-size all-in-one cloth diaper is extremely easy to wash and dry because of the synthetic material. I especially appreciate how quickly the microfiber air dries.

Performance

Diaper Rite recommends the Diaper Rite one-size all-in-one cloth diaper for babies between 8 and 35 pounds. Both my son and my daughter wear mine, although I usually use the diapers on my son. I first started using the diaper on my son when he was around fourteen pounds. He wore the all-in-one on the smallest waist and rise settings. He is fairly thin in build, so I do not think that the diaper would have fit him well at 8 pounds. My 29-pound preschooler wears the diaper on the large rise setting with three waist snaps exposed. Based on my children, I think that the Diaper Rite all-in-one runs small, fitting a narrower range of weights than 8 to 35 pounds.

My son is a fairly heavy wetter who hates wearing a wet diaper too long. The microfleece in the Diaper Rite one-size all-in-one cloth diaper combined with the microfiber quickly soaks up moisture while providing a stay-dry feeling. Compared to his reaction while wearing diapers made with natural fibers, my son fusses less in his wet Diaper Rite all-in-one because of the stay-dry material. My daughter, too, enjoys the stay-dry feeling provided by the diaper.

With a high quality diaper, I have to change my son every two to four hours and my daughter every four. Both my kids can go up to four hours in the Diaper Rite one-size all-in-one cloth diaper. The generous insert provides plenty of absorbency. I particularly like that I can fold-over the front of the insert to provide extra layers in the front of the diaper for my son. The diaper leaks only when I wait beyond four hours to change my kiddos. I therefore rate the absorbency very highly.

Although the Diaper Rite one-size all-in-one cloth diaper works especially well on my kids during the day, I can also use the diaper on my children overnight with an added insert because both my son and my daughter go between 8 and 12 hours without a diaper change at night. I like to use a natural fiber booster under the sewn-in microfiber soaker to provide overnight absorbency. The microfleece top layer wicks moisture away from sensitive skin all night.

In addition to providing protection against leaks, the Diaper Rite one-size all-in-one cloth diaper also effectively contains liquid and solid poop. The diaper does an especially good job with messy exclusively-breastfed poop. I have yet to have a poop explosion with the diaper. The diaper also holds in solid waste extremely well today. I therefore rate the performance of the Diaper Rite one-size all-in-one cloth diaper extremely highly.

Final Verdict

The Diaper Rite one-size all-in-one cloth diaper is one of my a new favorite all-in-one in my stash. At only $10.95 each, the brand offers an extremely economical all-in-one option. Available in a variety of colors and prints, the diaper features high-quality snaps that allow for most babies from infants to preschoolers to find a perfect fit. The diaper also performs extremely well, containing both liquids and solid messes. My only complaint is that the diaper seems to run a bit small, fitting my 14-pound infant on the smallest settings and my 29-pound preschooler on the largest. Overall, I overwhelmingly recommend the Diaper Rite one-size all-in-one cloth diaper.

Winning Colors Baby New Style All-in-One Cloth Diaper Review

Although I loved covers and all-in-twos on my daughter, I hands down prefer all-in-ones on my son. Last fall I reviewed a fabulous all-in-one from Winning Colors Baby. (I also reviewed a diaper cover.) Because I absolutely loved the semi-custom Halloween-themed all-in-one, I eagerly accepted the opportunity to review a new style all-in-one from the WAHM cloth diaper shop.

About Winning Colors Baby

Located in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Winning Colors Baby offers custom creations including cloth diapers, clothing, and accessories for your little winner. Shop owner and WAHM Lindsey makes all-in-ones, all-in-twos, and covers including semi-custom diaper in the fabric of your choice. Lindsey takes pride in offering a semi-custom product for everyone. Some of her options include snap color choices and inner fabric choices (microfleece or suedecloth). She also hopes to soon include a natural bamboo jersey option for babies who are sensitive to synthetic materials. She loves working on custom orders and helping clients create personalized, one-of-a-kind products that cannot be purchased anywhere else.  Learn more about Winning Colors Baby on Facebook and HyenaCart.

Price

Semi-custom diapers from Winning Colors Baby range in price from $14 to $31. All-in-ones and all-in-twos cost $8 more than covers. One-size diapers cost $4 more than sized diapers. Newborn diapers cost $2 less. Inner preference, front rise snaps, and print choice also raise and lower the price. I received a new style one-size all-in-one with front snaps that retails for $28. Compared to other WAHM diapers, I consider the semi-custom diapers from Winning Colors Baby reasonably priced. I also consider Winning Colors Baby affordable compared to name brand all-in-ones with a similar insert style. I rate the pricing extremely highly.

Materials and Construction

My new style all-in-one from Winning Colors Baby consists of a PUL exterior with a suedecloth interior. The semi-attached soaker system consists of super heavy bamboo fleece, a cotton velour top, and a hidden absorbent non-microfiber core in each petal. The two petals of the soaker system are sewn onto the front and back of the diaper and additionally snap in. I personally prefer to leave the petals unsnapped during use to make tossing the all-in-one into the washing machine easier (I am super lazy in the laundry room), but the snaps help keep the absorbent petals in place.

Winning Colors Baby almost always sells the new style all-in-one as a semi-custom, made-to-order diaper, offering options to the customer including gender preference for snap colors; inner lining fabric of suedecloth, microfleece, or bamboo jersey; and optional embroidery options. The bamboo jersey, which costs slightly more, provides an alternative for children with a sensitivity to synthetic materials. I received an adorable blue camo print with blue snaps.

The new style all-in-one also comes in both front snapping one-size and side snapping sized options. I received a front snapping one-size, which features three rows of three rise snaps on the torso, ten tops snaps and six bottom snaps on the waist, two top and one bottom hip snap, and crossover snaps. Winning Colors Baby recommends the one-size all-in-one for babies between 10 and 30 pounds depending on shape and body type. Both my 17 pounds son and 30 pound daughter fit into the diaper comfortably with room to grow.

Looking at the construction of the diaper, I find even stitching that I consider extremely professional. As with the previous diapers that I reviewed, if I did not know that Winning Colors Baby was a WAHM shop, I would believe that my diaper were commercially sewn. I am again impressed with the overall design and construction of this all-in-one.

Laundering

As I often reiterate, I am pretty lazy in the laundry room. I therefore require a cloth diaper that fits into my current cloth diaper laundry routine, and my new style all-in-one from Winning Colors Baby fits in perfectly! On laundry day, I toss my wet bag full of dirty diapers including my Winning Colors Baby new style all-in-one in my washing machine for a warm heavy wash with some detergent and OxiClean followed by two cold rinses. I then allow the clean diaper to air dry in a front of fan on my drying rack. The semi-attached design of the soaker on the diaper means that I can allow this all-in-one to air dry completely overnight without the use of my dryer. I therefore rate the new style all-in-one from Winning Colors Baby very highly in terms of ease of washing and drying.

Performance

Although she no longer wears diapers during the day, my preschooler daughter at 30 pounds wears the new style all-in-one from Winning Colors Baby on the large rise setting with three sets of waist snaps exposed. She is fairly slender, so thinner children can definitely wear this all-in-one past the recommended 30 pounds. At seven months and 17 pounds, my infant son wears the diaper on the medium rise setting with one set of waist snaps exposed. He could definitely have worn this all-in-one at a smaller weight, especially because of the cross-over snaps that offer an even snugger fit for smaller babies.

I consider my son is a fairly heavy wetter. Because he also hates feeling wet (unlike my daughter who never cared), I have to change him every two to four hours during the day. The new style all-in-one from Winning Colors Baby works on him for around four hours each use. He has leaked only once in the diaper because he fell to sleep, and I was not about to wake a sleeping baby just to change his diaper! The cotton velour top of the inserts also does not irritate him when wet. I rate this all-in-one extremely highly in terms of containing wetness.

The new style all-in-one from Winning Colors Baby also works great at containing solid messes. My son just started solids after six months of exclusively breastfeeding. Because he eats only a few bites of food each day at the moment, he is at that point between liquid EBF and solid food poop. This diaper effectively contains all consistencies of poop. In fact, I was incredibly impressed when I discovered the horrible mess with which my son christened the diaper. I thus rate this diaper extremely highly in terms of containing solid messes.

Overall I am incredibly pleased with the performance of the new style all-in-one from Winning Colors Baby.

Final Verdict

I absolutely love the new style all-in-one from Winning Colors Baby! For a semi-custom diaper, I consider the price extremely reasonable. The materials and construction of the diaper are comparable to commercially produced diapers. I particularly like the new semi-attached insert design, which makes washing and drying the all-in-one easier and faster. The diaper also effectively contains both wetness and solid messes. If you are a fan of semi-custom all-in-one cloth diapers, I highly recommend checking out Winning Colors Baby.

ecoAble Bamboo All-in-One Cloth Diaper with Pocket Review

0
0

Have you heard of ecoAble? I absolutely love the wet/dry cloth diaper pail bag with handles and cloth diaper pail liner from ecoAble that I recently reviewed. I am also quite impressed with the pocket diaper with bamboo insert. Therefore, when ecoAble also offered me the chance to review a bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket, I again eagerly accepted the opportunity.

Price

The ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket currently retails for $15.99, which I consider extremely affordable for an all-in-one. Although a few less expensive brands currently exist on the market, most all-in-ones cost considerably more. I am therefore highly impressed with the price of the ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket.

Prints

I received an ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket in a Farm print, which features red barns, green tractors, cows, chickens, and chicks on a white background, red hip tabs, and red snaps. (The diapers matched my ecoAble wet bag.) The brand currently offers almost a dozen prints (but no solid colors) for boys, girls, and both. While I would also like to see some solids colors offered, I rate the available print options from ecoAble very highly in terms of variety and color combinations.

Front of ecoAble Bamboo All-in-One Cloth Diaper with Pocket Back of ecoAble Bamboo All-in-One Cloth Diaper with Pocket

Design

Recommended for babies between 8 and 35 pounds, the bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket from ecoAble consists of a 100% polyester TPU waterproof exterior and a 100% bamboo rayon interior. The soft bamboo material absorbs moisture while keeping sensitive skin dry and comfortable. The absorbent material is sewn in to the diaper. A pocket opening at the back of the diaper does allow for the insertion of extra inserts. Because of the attached soaker, ecoAble recommends this all-in-one as a great diaper to send to daycare or for anyone who views cloth diapers as too complicated.

As a one-size diaper, the torso of the ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket features three rows of three snaps that allow the diaper to adjust between small, medium, and large rise settings. The waist features two rows of slanted snaps, ten on top and eight on bottom. The wings feature double snaps, hip snaps, and a crossover snap to ensure the perfect fit on the tiniest babies through larger preschoolers and to prevent wing droop.

Laundering

As with all natural fibers, the ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket requires multiples washings to reach maximum absorbency. I used mine after only one initial wash, and I have found that the absorbency increased considerably after each subsequent washing. Because I am super lazy in the laundry room, any new diaper that I add to my stash must fit into my current wash routine. Between washes, I store my dirty ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket in a pail liner in my diaper pail. On laundry day, I wash the diaper on warm with detergent and OxiClean followed by two cold rinses. I then allow the ecoAble pocket diaper to air dry on a drying rack, usually in front of a fan, which typically takes about 36 hours. When I am in more of a hurry, I toss the clean, damp diaper in my dryer for 90 minutes. My only complain about the ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket is the dry time. The sewn-in bamboo soaker takes considerably longer to dry than my other all-in-ones. However,  the ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket overall fits into my cloth diaper laundry routine, so I rate the diaper favorably in terms of laundering.

Performance

At 17 pounds and a little over seven months old, my infant son currently wears the ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket on the medium rise setting with one waist snap exposed. Because of the crossover snaps on the hip tabs and the additional small rise snaps, I agree that much smaller babies could fit into this all-in-one. My slender preschooler daughter, who currently weighs 30 pounds, fits into the diaper on the large rise setting with two waist snaps exposed. For the average child, the bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket from ecoAble should fit up to 35 pounds. For thinner kids like my daughter, the all-in-one may fit well past the recommended maximum weight.

My son typically needs a diaper change every two to four hours during the day, and I consider him a fairly heavy wetter. The ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket usually lasts him around four hours without leaking. I can also use the diaper on him overnight by adding an extra overnight insert into the pocket. The attached bamboo soaker absorbs a lot of moisture, making the diaper ideal as an overnight base. I usually stick two additional microfiber inserts in the pocket for overnight use. I therefore rate the bamboo all-in-one from ecoAble extremely highly in terms of absorbing moisture.

The bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket also works great at containing solid messes. My son just started solids after six months of exclusively breastfeeding. He generally eats only a few bites of food, if any, each day, so he is at the messy point between liquid EBF and solid food poop. This all-in-one effectively contains all consistencies of poop, from liquid to solid. I especially appreciate the double leg gussets, which typically help hold in messes better than single leg elastics. I thus rate the bamboo all-in-one from ecoAble extremely highly in terms of containing solid messes.

Final Verdict

As a fan of all-in-ones, I consider the ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket affordably priced at $15.99 each. Recommended for babies between 8 and 35 pounds, the diaper fits both my 17 pound infant and 30 pound preschooler with plenty of room to grow on both. The sewn-in bamboo soaker absorbs a lot of moisture, and the double leg gussets help contain wetness and solid messes. The pocket also allows for the addition of extra inserts, which make the diaper ideal for overnight use. My only complaint about the all-in-one is that the sewn-in bamboo soaker requires considerably longer to dry, both machine and air, than my other all-in-ones. If you are shopping for a new moderately priced all-in-one, I definitely suggest the ecoAble bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper with pocket.

Sweet Pea Diapers Bamboo All-in-One Review

“Isn’t your sweet pea worth it?” is the motto of Sweet Pea Diapers. I like to believe that my sweet peas are! My favorite cloth diaper retailer, Nicki’s Diapers, recently started stocking the brand, so the brand was in the forefront of my mind. Thus, when the Sweet Pea Diapers recently approached me about reviewing a bamboo all-in-one, I enthusiastically accepted the opportunity. I am a huge fan of all-in-ones for my son, so I was eager to try a new-to-me brand.

Bandit Raccoon Sweet Pea Diapers Bamboo All-in-One

Price

The bamboo all-in-one from Sweet Pea Diapers currently retails for $21.95, which I consider moderately priced for a bamboo all-in-one. Both higher and lower priced diapers with a similar design exist on the market. I am comfortable with the price the Sweet Pea Diapers bamboo all-in-one.

Prints

I received a bamboo all-in-one from Sweet Pea Diapers in the Bandit Raccoon print, which features gray raccoons, blue stars, and yellow crescent moons on a light blue background with blue snaps. Sweet Pea Diapers currently offers the bamboo all-in-one in seventeen adorable colors and prints for boys, girls, and both. I rate the available color and print options from Sweet Pea Diapers very highly in terms of variety. You are sure to find a diaper that fits your style!

Design

Recommended for babies between 8 and 35+ pounds, the bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper from Sweet Pea Diapers consists of a 100% polyester PUL exterior with an interior made with bamboo fleece, bamboo velour, and micro fleece. The bamboo fleece consists of 70% rayon viscose from bamboo and 30% cotton; the bamboo velour of 56% rayon from bamboo, 24% cotton, and 20% polyester; and the microfleece of 80% polyester and 20% poly amide.

The Sweet Pea Diapers bamboo all-in-one features two inserts, one attached and one removable. The tongue-style insert sewn into the back of the diaper consists of bamboo cotton topped with bamboo velour. The snap-in soaker consists of a layer of microfiber sandwiched between two layers of bamboo cotton. I really love the versatility that Sweet Pea Diapers offers. If I need a trimmer fit, I can remove the snap-in insert from the diaper. When I want more absorbency, I can use both the sewn-in and snap-in inserts.

As a one-size diaper, the torso of the bamboo all-in-one from Sweet Pea Diapers features three rows of three snaps that allow the diaper to adjust between small, medium, and large rise settings. The waist features two rows of ten snaps. The wings feature two rows of two snaps. One wing additionally includes two rows of two crossover snaps that ensure the perfect fit on the smallest newborns.

Laundering

Sweet Pea Diapers provides fairly detailed washing instructions on the packaging of the bamboo all-in-one including recommended detergents and laundry products to avoid. As with all natural-fibered diapers, the bamboo all-in-one requires multiples washings to reach maximum absorbency. The company recommends only one washing prior to first use but warns that the diaper will not reach maximum absorbency until after four to six washings. I used mine after only one initial wash, and I have found that the absorbency increased considerably after each subsequent washing.

Because I am incredibly lazy in the laundry room, any new diaper that I add to my stash must fit into my current wash routine. Between washes, I store my dirty bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper from Sweet Pea Diapers in a pail liner in my diaper pail. On laundry day, I wash the diaper on hot with detergent and OxiClean followed by two cold rinses. I then allow the bamboo all-in-one to air dry on a drying rack, usually in front of a fan, which typically takes between 12 and 24 hours depending on the humidity. When I am in more of a hurry, I toss the clean, damp diaper in my dryer for 60 to 90 minutes on low. The only negative that I can mention about the Sweet Pea Diapers bamboo all-in-one cloth diaper is the dry time. The natural fibers do take considerably longer to dry than my synthetic-fibered diapers, but I have enough diapers in my stash to wait the extra half a day. Overall, the bamboo all-in-one from Sweet Pea Diapers fits easily into my cloth diaper laundry routine, so I rate the diaper favorably in terms of laundering.

Performance

At 18 pounds and nine months old, my infant son currently wears the bamboo all-in-one from Sweet Pea Diapers on the medium rise setting with one set of waist snaps exposed. Because of the crossover snaps on the hip tabs and the additional small rise snaps, I agree that much smaller babies could fit into this all-in-one. My slender preschooler daughter, who currently weighs 30 pounds, fits into the diaper on the large rise setting with four sets of waist snaps exposed. The bamboo all-in-one from Sweet Pea Diapers will definitely fit up to 35 pounds or more on most children. For thinner preschoolers like my daughter, this diaper may also fit well past the recommended maximum weight.

When wearing a high quality diaper, my son goes up to four hours during the day between diaper changes. He is a fairly heavy wetter, so I typically chance him every two to four hours to prevent leaking. Because of all the super absorbent bamboo in the bamboo in the diaper, my son more often than not wears his Sweet Pea Diapers bamboo all-in-one for a full four hours. I can also use the diaper on him at night for up to ten hours by adding an extra insert into the diaper. I like to add a stay dry microfiber insert on top of the bamboo inserts for overnight use. I thus rate the bamboo all-in-one from Sweet Pea Diapers extremely highly in terms of absorbing moisture.

As for solid messes, the Sweet Pea Diapers bamboo all-in-one performs equally well. My son still primarily breastfeeds, but he has started eating a bit more solid food eat day. He is therefore at the messy point between liquid EBF and solid food poop. This bamboo all-in-one did a great job containing all consistencies of poop, from more liquid to more solid. I have not had any problems with poop escaping from the diaper. I therefore rate the bamboo all-in-one from Sweet Pea Diapers extremely highly in terms of containing solid messes.

Final Verdict

I am a huge fan of all-in-ones for my son, and the Bandit Raccoon bamboo all-in-one from Sweet Pea Diapers is a new favorite in my stash. At $21.95 each, this cloth diaper is priced moderately within the all-in-one category. Recommended for babies between 8 and 35 pounds, the diaper fits both my 18 pound infant and 30 pound preschooler with plenty of room to grow on both. The two soakers, one sewn-in and one snap-in, offer customization and provide plenty of absorbency. This all-in-one performs excellently at containing both moisture and messes. The only negative that I can find with this diaper is the slightly longer dry time compared to microfiber because of the bamboo material. Overall, I rate the bamboo all-in-one from Sweet Pea Diapers extremely highly and recommend this diaper to other fans of all-in-ones.
